#GoldenRepair No 3 - Overcoming Seattle's Fractured Geography with Leslie Koch

Seattle’s identity is in great part a reflection of its geography. The hills create views that inspire possibility. The water offers recreation and enables maritime. A wealth of natural resources has created industry. But, these attributes have also contributed to a fragmented landscape and disconnected street grid that unnecessarily separates people and neighborhoods, creates congestion, forces industrial conflicts, and looks like it was developed more from Jackson Pollock than Jane Jacobs.

In our ongoing “Golden Repair” series, urban activist Leslie Koch will inspire Seattleites with her stories of developing NYC’s Governor’s Island, and taking us on a journey to cities around the world who have overcome their geographic challenges and repaired their fractured communities.
