6:00-ish: DRESSED TO KILL (1980)
Legendary writer/director Brian DePalma out-Brian DePalma's himself with this glossy, steamy, lurid, giallo-style horror-thriller. When call girl Liz Blake (Nancy Allen) stumbles into a murder scene and catches a glimpse of the straight-razor wielding murderess, the killer catches a glimpse of her, too...also featuring the great Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson, not to mention quintessentially likeable actor-turned-director Keith Gordon (Christine, Back To School).
8:00-ish: ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976)
When L.A. police lieutenant Ethan Bishop agreed to oversee the skeleton crew of a South Central police headquarters in its final hours of operation, he could never have guessed that Street Thunder was coming. Part "Rio Bravo", part "Night Of The Living Dead", part post-Summer Of Love paranoid urban fever dream, it's only legendary writer/director John Carpenter's second outing, even pre-dating "Halloween."
9:45-ish: JUST ONE OF THE GUYS (1985)
Teenager Terri Griffith's dream is to be a respected journalist one day. But when one door too many fails to open for her despite hard work and dedication, she worries it might be because she's a girl. So, when her parents leave town for two weeks, she enrolls in a rival high school as a boy to see if her luck improves. Regrettably, director Lisa Gottlieb never got to be legendary (though she did go on to have a pretty decent career as a college professor).
