Twist: Seattle Queer Film Festival says
HEARTLAND, Maura Anderson's directorial debut, is a love story that tests the bonds of kinship. After the sudden death of her lover, a grieving Lauren returns to her childhood home in rural Oklahoma. She soon begins a torrid affair with her brother’s stunning girlfriend (Laura Spencer, The Big Bang Theory), which threatens to tear apart the family’s winery business—and the family, led by the quietly homophobic matriarch (Beth Grant, The Mindy Project). Filmed on location, HEARTLAND was the Audience Award winner for Narrative Feature Drama at the Cinequest Film Festival.
