Blues Underground Symposium: Inclusion Jam!
Friday, Sept. 11, 9-10pm / Back room at Dance Underground
*Free* / $5 BUG dance to follow

Co-Facilitated by Leah Vendl & Shadi Paulo

This open conversation is for anyone who has ever felt less than 100% included in the blues dance scene. (I imagine this has been true for each of us at one time or another!)

It's a space to actively listen to each other, then brainstorm or "jam on" concrete strategies for shaping an inclusive dance community—ideas we can bring to our individual dances and into our larger communities.

The conversation will be shaped by what everyone brings to it. At the end, if we decide to, we can have a small dance jam to dance it out together before the BUG dance!

We all play different roles in making our community inclusive—let's be inspired by each other!

Leah Vendl is an improviser, dance adventurer, and organizing member of Recess Productions who has taught and DJ'd blues and alt-blues events across the US, in the UK and France. Leah uses she/her/hers pronouns. She has been partner dancing for a decade and believes social dance can empower a diversity of voices and bodies. She teaches a role-fluid, consent-focused dance practice, and is passionate about shaping radically inclusive communities.

The concept for Inclusion Jams comes from Noam Paco Gaster, who has been running these in the Seattle Contact Improv Community. Thank you, Noam!
