Damien Jurado and Matt Bishop (Hey Marseilles) perform as part of the Influencers Concert Series at EMP.

By bringing together up-and-coming artists with the established acts that inspired them, the Influencers Concert Series celebrates how the greatest forms of creativity are often sparked by sharing in the creativity of others.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Damien Jurado
Seattle born and bred singer/songwriter Damien Jurado has been discreetly building a deep and assorted catalog of meditative story-filled albums. A 25 year veteran of the indie scene, his music has sometimes been difficult to categorize, immersed in Americana, folk, pop, found sounds, and even electric indie rock. His early career included releases on Sub Pop and label Made in Mexico. For over ten years he has been releasing a robust and critically acclaimed collection of albums on Indiana-based Secretly Canadian, and found a meaningful partner in producer Richard Swift. In 2013, Jurado and Swift returned to the studio to record his eleventh studio album, 2014's Brothers & Sisters of the Eternal Son.

Matt Bishop
Matt Bishop is the lead singer and a primary songwriter for orchestral pop sextet Hey Marseilles. He has no formal training in music or the art of songwriting, save for his mildly-relevant English degree, penchant for observation, and a lifelong tendency to sing in the shower. Hey Marseilles has released two full-length albums and plans to release a third in the fall of 2015.
