New York City’s premier hip-hop improv comedy team, North Coast, is a unique collaboration of improvisational comedy, hip hop, beatboxing, and music. This musical improv workshop will get even the most beginner performers comfortable and confident with freestyle rapping and will teach you how to really drill into the deal of your scene and its’ characters. Learn how to set yourself up, find your flow, and weave your rapped verses in and out of your improv scene-work.

- Hip hop improv approach

Teacher Bios:

Douglas Widick
Douglas Widick is a founding member of North Coast . He performs sketch shows with The 2017 Tony Awards , Dead Dads Club , and Pop Roulette , which was just named a selection for the 2015 Comedy Central “Comics To Watch.” He also plays regularly with acclaimed Musical Improv show Baby Wants Candy, and UCB Maude Team Hot Bird . Douglas was recently seen in F#%king Up Everything and Blank! The Musical OffBroadway. .

Kaila Mullady
Kaila Mullady is a New York based performer. She is the current World Beatbox Champion, American Vice Beatbox Champion, 2x Loop station champion and 3x, reigning, Beatrhyme Champion. Kaila performs all over NYC and the country infusing beatboxing, singing, rapping, poetry and theater to push the boundaries of creativity and show just what the human instrument is capable of. Teaching workshops all across the country promoting reading, writing and finding your own soul music. Giving back to communities and volunteering is a big part of Kaila’s creative process.

Jonathan DeMuth
Jonathan DeMuth has been doing improv in New York City at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Magnet Theater and Peoples Improv Theater since 2009. By day, Jonathan is a television editor. Richie AlfsonHailing from Oklahoma City, Richie began improvising in Boulder, Colorado, where he cofounded and directed the group Left Right TIM. After producing and performing a show for the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he moved to NYC, where he currently works as a freelance designer.
