Seattle writer Josephine Ensign, known for her writing about nursing and about homelessness and for teaching student nurses and writers for many years in our community, celebrates the publication of her much awaited book, Catching Homelessness: A Nurse’s Story of Falling Through the Safety Net (She Writes ). Catching Homelessness, which relates the author’s own story of losing her home and her family after suffering from depression, was chosen as this fall’s University of Washington Health Sciences Common Book.

More about Mary's Place, a organization that works to empower homeless women, children and families to reclaim their lives by providing shelter, nourishment, resources, healing and hope in a safe community at www.marysplace.org. Donations and a portion of proceeds from books sales from tonight’s reading will benefit Mary’s Place and attendees will also learn a bit about their work.
