West Seattle Junction says
Have you seen the beautiful kinetic sculpture at Junction Plaza Park? Meet us at the park to hear about the history behind the capstone of the Junction art project, plus meet the group who made this happen. Plus meet Troy Pillow Sculpture - the artist who created the piece.

Junction Plaza Park is a .15 acre park in the heart of the West Seattle Urban Village. It was dedicated in 2010 and is owned and maintained by Seattle Parks and Recreation. Under the project management of Seattle Parks and Recreation, the park land was purchased with initial funds from the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund and a park design was completed with significant public input. In 2007, developer Blue Star Management was granted an alley vacation by the City of Seattle for their West Seattle development (now known as the Spruce Building). As part of the public benefit, $25,000 was dedicated to Junction Plaza Park.

In spring of 2015, the community was assigned a Parks and Recreation department project manager, Pamela Kliment, to help guide the final phase. A steering committee was also established at this time. The committee is made up of volunteer community members coming from various backgrounds and neighborhood perspectives. With a grant through Department of Neighborhoods, the project was completed in November, 2016.

Led Lighting was made possible by a city grant procured by Susan Melrose. We would like to also recognize JuNO & Tom Rasmussen and other community members made this installation with lighting possible. The neighborhood wishes to thank Susan Melrose & Janelle from WSJA for outreach efforts to direct the alley vacation monies from SPRUCE to the Junction Plaza park for this sculpture.
