Time Out says

Ghost Gallery is pleased to present an off-site exhibit at SAINT JOHN'S BAR & EATERY featuring new ash paintings by Karla Fuller-Palmer. Feb. 12th - April 5th, 2015 Come to Saint John's on Thurs, Feb. 12th during the Capitol Hill Art Walk and DJ Pavone's SALON art walk party! artist statement: "My latest body of work is a direct reaction to the suffocation of modern culture. I am creating visual escapes into the wild. Sometimes that wild bleeds into the surreal when psychedelic elements are introduced, an allusion to the nebulous blending of the earth we walk and the sky we longingly reach for. The materials have been carefully selected as they themselves are used as language; the paint is personally handmade from cannabis plant detritus rendered into ash pigment only during the full moon, the substrate I paint upon is recycled extruded polypropylene. Using recycled materials to paint Pacific Northwest-themed scenes continues that cycle of reference and upholds my intention: to escape into the wild with respect and wonder, while being aware of my footprint. The use of ashes also speaks to all life’s eventual status: death. The mountains will carry on without us. And that’s alright with me." STJ 719 E.
