King County Council Vote On Youth Jail

The content on this page is provided by a Time Out partner.

This Monday February 9th at 1:30pm, the King County Council will vote on the ordinance approving the design build contract for the new Youth Jail. The city is ready to spend 210 MILLION dollars on the jail- rather than programs that keep our youth out of incarceration. This is a direct investment into the school to prison pipeline and we as a community cannot let this happen. The community was successful in postponing the vote during the last Council meeting by turning it into a community speak out against the jail. This upcoming meeting must have the same presence and power, if you are unable to come to the meeting share the event. Spread the word - Stop the jail. NO NEW YOUTH JAIL!
