Master Class with Hummie Mann :: The Power of Music in Film

Though film is largely considered a visual experience, the impact of sound cannot be underestimated. Music helps tell the story by adding "punch" to the visual images, conveying emotion or a change in mood, setting the film's rhythm, or simply tying the scenes together.

Using examples of his work from dramatic, comedic and animated films; Mann will explore the characteristics of film composition, and demonstrate how the same scene can be affected by different scores.

Collaborating with Hollywood’s most celebrated directors, Mann's work spans a wide range of projects in film, television, and theater. Highlights include: Sleepless in Seattle, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Prince of Tides, Misery, and The Simpsons.
