In It Starts with a Foundation, W. Scott Trimble explores the relationship between changing demographics and the transformative built environment. As the visual aesthetic of a city shifts, what happens to the social fabric? Exploring this metaphorical and literal notion of “foundation”, the work contemplates what we build on.

Trimble will create a site specific installation in which a series of sculptural forms references the ubiquitous concrete foundation forms in Seattle’s building renaissance. These integrated forms will be presented in a dramatic arrangement that mimic structural columns, walls, and archways and will be interactive with the public.

W. Scott Trimble is a Seattle based artist that creates site specific sculptural installations that often encourage the viewer to physically and metaphorically explore a work. He received a BFA in Spatial Art from San Jose State University (1999) and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington (2003).

This project was supported, in part, by an award from 4Culture.
