The event creator says
In the hour preceding the Synthesis dance on 4/14 (Aligning with Kindness in the Face of the Unfamiliar), OmCulture is generously providing space for a community movement jam.

A movement jam is an open space for independent (and interdependent) expression and exploration. At any moment, all participants are free to move or be still, alone or in connection with others.

Much of what happens at “movement jams” is considered, by many, to be Contact Improvisation. Contact Improvisation is a non-hierarchical dance practice with a rich and fascinating history. You can find out more about it by asking other jammers or consulting websites like contactimprov.net or seattlecontactimprovisation.blogspot.com .

One need not know anything about CI, or have the intention of practicing it, in order to participate in a movement jam.

Please do be mindful of your impact on others, including making noise in the space. For a satisfying jam, many find it important to have a type of physical and emotional awareness that loud conversations, etc., can easily disrupt.

Expressing moment-to-moment needs related to personal space and emotional boundaries is always welcome and encouraged.

For those of us with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, please refrain from wearing scented products.

Arrive and exit whenever you like. Immediately following will be Synthesis: Aligning with Kindness in the Face of the Unfamiliar (Noam Paco Gaster's DJ debut!)
