Encore Performance! April 4 @ 8:30

Written and Performed by Mike Mathieu

Show Description - The 4-hour match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the 2008 men’s Wimbledon finals has been called (by John McEnroe and others) the greatest tennis match ever played. In One-Man Wimbledon, Mike Mathieu will prove why.
He’ll do this by performing the most exciting 20 minutes of the match - blow by blow, swing by swing, moment by psychologically electric moment. He’ll also step out of the action frequently to provide vital backstory like who the players are, why they’re the greatest, why it means so much for them to be facing off, why tennis is so magnificent, what a “tiebreak” is and how it’s different from a regular game, etc. The show is fast-paced and thrilling, like the match it’s based on, and funny and physical, like the guy performing it. Sports are drama, and One-Man Wimbledon is a live solo documentary tribute to the most dramatic 20 minutes in sports history.

Producer Bio - As half of The Cody Rivers Show, Mike Mathieu has created over 20 hours of sketch comedy, touring across the US and Canada (and earning a Genius Award from The Stranger in 2009). On his own he has written two solo plays, a few one-acts, a few full-length plays, and lots and lots of songs, most of which (except the songs) he has performed for paying audiences.

Watching a video of the 2008 men’s Wimbledon final turned him into a hopelessly romantic tennis fan.
