Recognized as a financial capital for blue-chip artists, Hong Kong has been less accommodating to grass roots artists working for social change. As the Umbrella Revolution seeks greater autonomy for the region and the ability to nominate a candidate in the 2017 election (when China has promised universal suffrage for 8 million residents), artists in Hong Kong seek political change through a vibrant insistence on memory and history that evokes the Tank Man of Tiananmen in 1989.

Change-Seed explores issues of autonomy and identity in the work of 25 artists working mostly in photography and video, in addition to other media.

Artists include: Occupy Art Group, Phoebe Man (Venice Biennale), Sunny Wang, Carol Lee Mei Kuen, Anita Yau, Wai Yim Wong, Samson Young, Laurent Segretier, and others. Artists selected by Curator-at-Large and previous CoCA Board Member (2010-2015), David Francis.

Gallery hours Wednesday-Friday, 11am-5pm and by appointment

Change-Seed is made possible with generous support from 4Culture, Cascade Architectural & Engineering Supplies, Glazer's Camera, Greenbridge Management, LexJet, and Stephen Rock's Studio
