Postponed** Beacon Food Forest Work Party October 2016 says
**Hey All, We have collectively decided to keep a radar on the forecast and tentatively POSTPONE our Saturday Oct 15th Work Party**

**If the weather is what it says it will be, we are currently looking to RESCHEDULE to SATURDAY OCT 22ND from 10am to 2pm. We'll keep you in the loop! Thanks for understanding!**

All ages and background welcome, no need to sign up in advance. Dress for the weather, rain or shine the event will happen. Also recommended: work gloves, water bottle, $3-5 donation (not required) for lunch, and a coffee cup/utensil to reduce waste on the site. We believe in zero waste and exercise pack-it-in, pack-it-out. If you are able to, please arrive around 9:45am to enjoy morning refreshments and we'll get coordinated and start soon after 10am.

Volunteers will make coffee and serve a delicious vegan home-cooked lunch to be served around 12:30pm. Our work parties typically run until 2-3pm depending on turnout, weather, and energy levels.

Tasks will include:

Updated Tasks! We have three large tasks that we will be completing.

Weeding our Helix Giving Garden - our garden is getting a complete transformation for the winter months, lots of people needed to help in the weeding. *Great for kids*

Compost Education - With lots of weeding, comes lots of composting. Our Compost Team is here to help share the knowledge if you're interested in learning more.

Sheet multching - Our Phase 1 expansion is still in progress, and we needs lots of help to trasnfer cardboard and woodchips to help get the area ready for permaculture growth. *Little wheelbarrows, great for kids*

Children are welcome and encouraged to come - we have little wheelbarrows for them to help with compost and multching! We'd love to show them how to harvest some greens for our community lunch :-)

This is a wonderful hand-on way to learn about permaculture and connecting with the community (meaning YOU) that helps maintain this beautiful land.

See you there!
