Progressive Art Event With Caffe Torino

Time Out says

We' are partnering up with our friends and neighbors at Caffe Torino (www.caffetorinoseattle.com) and featuring two local artists – sharing wall space at both venues. Think of it as a miniature Art Walk! On Friday, February 20th, artists’ reception will be hosted from 5-6:30 pm at Rogers & Ryan (605 Eastlake Ave E) and from 6:30 – 8pm at Caffe Torino (422 Yale Ave N). Sumi A. Kawaguchi, a self-described unintentional artist, utilizes her past, present, and vision of the future to shape her pieces. Sumi enjoys deconstructing her memories and life experiences and putting them back together on canvas. She appreciates looking at a completed piece knowing that there are many stories or funny conversations blended together with color and texture. Her work started out as (and remains) a hobby and an outlet for her to remove herself from the monotonous day-to-day routine. She creates pieces that she would personally gravitate towards in galleries and stores, and models each panel with a modern yet accessible feel. Thanks to her brother’s encouragement, she's bringing her work out of seclusion and into the public eye for all to experience. Daniel Lowery is a landscape designer by day and his inspiration comes from many directions, but mostly from natural elements. VISION QUEST, on display through March, is based on a very personal and somewhat accidental experience. Not only are these pieces colorful, they are extraordinarily rich with texture. Additionally, Regina Chambers will be available for private tarot card readings. Snacks and beverages will be available, so attend both venues or just one, bring a friend, or ten and have fun!
