American Farmland Trust - Pacific Northwest says
The No Farms No Food® Speaker Series showcases local leaders working on food, farm, and farmland issues. We are thrilled to host Dr. Steve Jones from the WSU Bread Lab for this upcoming event!

Dr. Jones is a wheat breeder, professor, and Director of the WSU Bread Lab. At The Bread Lab, Jones tackles problems with our food system from all angles -- production, nutrition, processing, and distribution. Jones researches strains of wheat and other grains best suited for the Pacific Northwest, helps increase yields for farmers, and discovers strains and production practices that allow for flavor and nutritional content not seen in conventional grains. Finally, by reintroducing regional grain farming, mills and other processors can return to the area.

What do we end up with? A healthy, sustainable, local food economy… with a lot of great bread, beer, and whiskey!

We're excited for our new venue at Stone Way Café in Fremont. Stone Way Café's menu features fresh food and a wide selection of refreshments, including some of our favorite PNW inspired brews. Come in right at 6 for more time to enjoy a snack and a drink while browsing the local art displayed on the walls.

Be sure to invite your friends, family, colleagues, and classmates to join us in hearing how Dr. Jones is balancing tradition with innovation, and paving the way for local and regional grains to thrive! Dr. Jones will give a brief presentation, followed by ample time for Q&A, and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to meet other food and farm enthusiasts.

Space is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged, but not required. Please RSVP to Lauren at
