This evening will be an introduction and scientific explanation of the iRest® protocol as taught by Richard Miller PhD. The topics will include what it is, how and why it works and the wide variety of ways it can be applied. Included will be a few short experiences of the protocol. This protocol is currently being utilized in VA hospitals, military bases, hospitals and clinics, hospice, homeless shelters, community programs, and schools. About Richard Miller Richard Miller, author of The iRest Program for Healing PTSD (New Harbinger) and Yoga Nidra: The Meditative Heart of Yoga (Sounds True), has been honored by Yoga Journal as one of the top 25 Yoga teachers in North America and featured in American Yoga and Will Yoga and Meditation Really Change My Life?. Richard is the founder and president of the Integrative Restoration Institute (IRI), co-founder of the International Association of Yoga Therapy, founding editor of the professional journal of IAYT, a founding board member and past president of the Institute for Spirituality and Psychology and a senior advisor to the Baumann Foundation. He is the author of numerous articles including Welcoming All That Is, in the book, The Sacred Mirror: Nondual Wisdom and Psychotherapy. Currently Richard is a consultant on research projects that are being carried out by the military researching the efficacy of the Integrative Restoration - iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation protocol that he developed and its use with active duty service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who are experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder. Richard is a consultant on research studies investigating the use of iRest with the homeless, patients experiencing chronic pain, chemical dependency, PTSD, and its use enhancing the well being of college students and children.
