Robin Holcomb And Bill Patton

Time Out says

In this, the second performance of her residency at The Royal Room, Robin Holcomb will present a rare solo acoustic performance of new and old original songs, solo piano compositions and settings of Nazim Hikmet, Stephen Foster and The Mississippi Sheiks. Also performing will be one of her favorite songwriters, the “essential Seattle chanteur” Bill Patton performing songs from his recent recording “A New Kind of Man” with bassist Joe Kaufman (Seattle Symphony) and drummer Jason Merculief (Alela Diane, Jesse Sykes). Bill has collaborated with The Fleet Foxes, Josh Tillman aka Father John Misty, Gold Leaves, Low Hum, Mike Dumovich and others. Robin Holcomb performs internationally, and creates vocal and instrumental music for ensembles of all sizes, film, dance and theater. She has recorded for Nonesuch, Tzadik, Songlines and New World records. “Her music draws on both the old-time Americana of parlor songs, waltzes, blues and ballads, and the modernism of jazz harmonies and formal twists.” (NY Times) “Achingly painful and suddenly tender, Robin Holcomb’s songs mirror a beguiling, bewildering world.” (Rolling Stone) “Satie goes to Appalachia, Morricone goes to the Knitting Factory, and you, dear art-folk fan, die and go to heaven.” (Village Voice) This is a donation-based event.
