About the slam:
Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS) is a performance poetry competition, designed for an individual poet. Poets from all over the world compete in this competition. In these slams, poets have a different time limit in every round.

Poets must have a four minute, three minute, two minute, and one minute poems to compete. A ten second grace period is added to each limit.

The winner of the FINALS after these preliminaries will represent Seattle Poetry Slam at Individual World Poetry Slam in Flagstaff, Arizona in October!
ABOUT THE FEATURED POET:
Dorothy Frances Kent is a writer from Seattle Washington. Though her origins are in the music scenes of San Francisco and Seattle, she dedicated herself completely to writing shortly after transitioning in 2011. Dorothy is a queer, trans, femme, dyke feminist, whose work can reflect these labels, but often not. Her ongoing concerns are survival and recovery, inclusion, magic, mythology, art and nature. She is a fiction writer, poet and playwright. Her current production, coming in May is, “The Enchanted Life and Temporary Death of Sadie December,” a one woman show presented by Gay City Arts.
