About the slam:

Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS) is a performance poetry competition, designed for an individual poet. Poets from all over the world compete in this competition. In these slams, poets have a different time limit in every round.

Poets must have a four minute, three minute, two minute, and one minute poems to compete. A ten second grace period is added to each limit.

The winner of the FINALS after these preliminaries will represent Seattle Poetry Slam at Individual World Poetry Slam in Flagstaff, Arizona in October!

About the poet:

Casey Gardner is a queer female poet, educator and Bay Area native. She is a teaching artist for the non-profits SPARC Poetry and Digital Storytellers. She is also the Grand Slam Champion of San Francisco's Alchemy Slam and has been on two National slam teams, one of which placed second in Group Pieces in 2015. She spends a lot of time teaching 10 year olds how to yell, engaging in meaningful discourse on social justice, and preaching the healing powers of Heelys. Her work centers around triumph over oppression, but she usually saves her angry face for the stage. She is very happy to meet you.
