Seattle Poetry Slam presents an open slam with featured poet, Shanna Washburn

About the slam:
Open Slams are open to all. There are three rounds with elimination following each round. There is a three minute time limit per poem, with a ten second grace period.
*Our Slam Season is over, but you can still compete to win the 1st place prize of $25!*

There are only three rules:
Poets must perform their own original work.
No props, costumes or musical accompaniment
Depending on the type of slam, there is a time limit with a ten second grace period.
Five judges are randomly selected from the audience, scoring poets anywhere between 0 to 10.0
High and low scores are dropped, three in the middle are added to give the total score.

Shanna Washburn is a poet, photographer, bartender and student in Seattle, Washington, where she lives with her partner, her cat, two roommates, and an ever-growing sense of impending doom. She attempts to pay her rent by slinging both caffeinated and alcoholic varieties of drink, and attends the University of Washington where she is majoring in Anthropology. In her “free time” she helps run Rain City Slam and likes to sing karaoke. She realizes this is starting to sound like an OK cupid profile, but she has no impressive list of awards, teams or publications for you, so she needed some filler. Her chapbook, 10 Years Since My Last Confession is her first. You can hear a set of her poetry on the show Tell it Slant from KAOS radio Olympia:
