Garfield is a poet, warrior, organizer, and educator. He believes in the beauty of words and the power of story-sharing. He writes to reclaim the language that was stolen from him, to empower others, and to push imaginations to craft a better now.

Garfield was the poet in residence for the University of Idaho's Shade of Black Show for 2012-2013.

In 2013, he was a member & team captain of the regional champion Washington State University College Union Spoke-word Invitational Team and represented his university at the national event held in Manhattan, New York.

Garfield was also a finalist for Rain City Slam's first annual Hoodie Slam Championship.

He is published in the highly competitive and exclusive LandEscapes Literary and Arts Journal with three contributions!

In 2014, Garfield was a finalist in Seattle Poetry Slam's Grand Slam.

Garfield was a member of the triumphant Seattle Poetry Slam Summer team which won the 2014 Battle of the Word at Bumbershoot.

He is the current Seattle Poetry Slam representative for the Individual World Poetry Slam.

In 2015 Garfield assisted in Seattle Poetry Slam winning the Cascadia Poetry Slam invitational.

Garfield is the 2015 Seattle Poetry Slam Grand Slam winner and will represent Seattle Poetry Slam with his teammates at the National Poetry SLam held in Oakland, California.

He has shared stages with grammy nominated artists like Mary Lambert & Kevin McCall, slam legends like Jessie Powell, Danez Smith, Anis Mojgan, & Andrea Gibson, and Cornell West.

He,also, loves the vowel, Y, just because.

Garfield is the current Slam Master for Seattle Poetry Slam. But mostly he lives, daydreams, and wanders lost around Seattle trying to taste the salt in the air.
