This is a last minute announcement by Persian and Iranian Studies Program at the University of Washington Near Eastern Languages and Civilization Department.

At Near Eastern Languages and Civilization Department we heard that Dr. Naghmeh Samini, who is a very famous playwright and theater scholar, is in Seattle for only a limited time. PSIP-NELC wanted to acknowledge the success of her recent show "Shahrzad" in Iranian TV and to provide an opportunity for the community to have a dialogue with her before she goes back to continue her work on next season of the very popular "Shahrzad".

NELC-PISP is thankful to Dr. Samini for kindly accepting to give a presentation at the UW.

While the date and time is set as Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 7-9 PM, the room will soon be announced through email and on NELC Website and also on NELC Facebook page very soon.

Naghmeh Samini earned her PhD in Theatre and Mythology in Iran and taught drama history and playwriting at the University of Tehran for 12 years. She has written more than 20 plays, published and performed in Iran and abroad. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Washington. She is currently one of the script writers for the exceptionally popular Iranian TV series “Shahrzad.” Her lecture will focus on her work with “Shahrzad” and how the show’s popular reception exceeded her expectations.
