STG and The Common Ground Music Project present Solidaridad! at The Neptune on June 23, 2016 as a part of the Nights at the Neptune series. GA seating.

Kindly RSVP here:

Nights at the Neptune is an expression of local awakening— artists and audiences coming together to celebrate culture and community in a series of free performances.

Organized by innovative artist and social justice activist Shontina Vernon, SOLIDARIDAD! is the Common Ground Music Project's way of sharing their unique mission and story with the Seattle community. A Seattle based cohort of musicians and interdisciplinary artists of color, Common Ground Music Project, aims to teach social justice through music and communal art. Through the use of history, music, memory, multi-media and shared cultural stories, Common Ground's SOLIDARIDAD! will explore issues of race, gender, economics, and sustainable environmental practices. The evening will culminate in a series of performances by a cohort of local artists traveling to Cuba to promote Common Ground's mission. In both the rural and urban communities of Cuba, the cohort will work closely with Cuban artists and young people to create art focused on the current thawing of the US and Cuba's foreign relations, and the effects they hope this budding relationship will have on the fabric of each society. Throughout the show, the audience will be able to engage with the artists and their work, learn about the artists in Cuba, and share their own ideas, as well.
