Highway 99 Blues Club says
Soul Vaccination remains at the top of the Portland charts, and is one of the tightest Funk & Soul Bands in the PNW. As the Rose Cities favorite, Soul Vax infuses the stage with the greatest soul standards, and has been a fixture in the Northwest music scene for over 20 years.

This high energy12 piece band features Glenn Holstrom on Hammond B-3 and Keyboards, along with the precision guitar playing of Max Rees. On bass is Grammy nominated producer, John Linn, and on Drums is Edwin Coleman III, always bringin' the funk and Groovin' Hard. Portland's own Paul Creighton, Mark Wyatt, and Regina K share their soulful vocals styles. Lewis Livermore and Dave Mills carry the backbone sound of the Soul Vax horns on trumpets, with Ron Regan, Gary Harris, & Timothy Bryson on saxophones. Don't miss our next show. Don't miss our next show.

The band's new CD, "Soul Vax Live in PDX" is selling fast and has received wonderful reviews. Their third CD, "What is Hip?" featuring legendary Tower of Power guitarist Bruce Conte and was recently reviewed by DownBeat Magazine receiving ★★★1/2 .

“Folks in the Pacific Northwest are lucky to have a real soul band this fine and exciting. This New Englander is jealous. — Frank-John Hadley, Downbeat columnist/Grove Press author

Andy Stokes, long time Soul musician, and arguably Portland’s best, is as funky as they come on stage, and he’s also completely down to earth and nearly zen-like in the way he approaches his life and fame. Having performed over the years with local Portland icons like Cool'R (his own band), Curtis Salgado, Linda Hornbuckle, and New Shooz. He has also performed nationally with Michael Bolton, George Clinton, Connie Stevens, Temptations, Stylistics and others on a broader scale. Additionally, he was voice for one of the famous California Raisin characters, developed at Will Vinton Studios. It was a CBS special in 1989, called “Meet the Raisins.” Now, how many artists can say they have been able to interpret the voice of a piece of fruit? In 2009 Andy Stokes was inducted into the "Oregon Music Hall of Fame" with the band Cool'R.

Andy's heart and soul are worn on his sleeve as he sings everything from soulful power ballads to upbeat funk tunes that make your whole body want to move. His voice and his emotion are certainly powerful and positive musical forces to be reckoned with and you will be singing the songs long after the lights of the stage have gone down.
