Spite House Presents Neil Welch August 2 says
Tuesday, August 2, Spite House is proud and happy to feature saxophonist Neil Welch performing a series of solo-acoustic works on tenor saxophone, each sculpted around specific sonic environments within and near the horn. The set will reveal a series of improvised vignettes and prepared works focusing largely on extended techniques, a major area of focus in Neil's playing. These will include multiphonics, split tones, clusters, smears, throat tones, and tempered melodies.

1. Stephen Fandrich & Bill Monto, Outlaw Space
2. Neil Welch
3. Extemporaneous collaborators and spontaneous compositions.
Spite House Concerts started in 2013 as a venue for new music. Beloved by Seattle's improvisation communities, the series continues every Tuesday evening. Concert artists are selected by a rotating group of curators, local musicians devoted to finding Seattle's most interesting and unique new music.

The third set is open to improvisers. Audience members are welcome to bring voices and other instruments. After the concert proper (10:30pm or later, depending) we form up spontaneous duos and small ensembles to create a set of impromptu music magic.

$20 Donation encouraged, not required. All donations are accepted with gratitude. We love supporting live, local musicians! Also welcome: donations of food & drink to complement what is always on hand in the kitchen.
