About the Speakers:

Amie Wells has spent over a decade working in international development intent on building the future for youth through educational initiatives and international programs. Aligned completely with Mercy Corps’ focus on adolescents, Wells is particularly invested in empowering adolescent girls, witnessing firsthand the impact education and job training has on their family and community. At the moment, she’s is based out of her suitcase with an apartment in Amman, Jordan, and looks forward to the coming year of scaling programming for young people globally.

Noura Shahed was born and raised in Jordan, and graduated with a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Lancaster University, UK. As Mercy Corps Jordan’s monitoring and evaluation lead, Shahed conducted research that identified youth vulnerabilities in northern parts of Jordan and the drivers behind joining violent-extremist groups.
