EMP is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic franchise with a day of family-friendly daytime activities highlighting our newest exhibit, Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds.

All day long EMP will be featuring Star Trek clips in Sky Church alongside Star Trek-inspired fun of all stripes. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in costume and pay tribute to their favorite characters from beyond (and within) the final frontier.

The first 50 people through the door will receive a limited edition Star Trek 50th Anniversary Captain’s Log.

$5 off general EMP/Star Trek combo admission to any fan who says “Beam Me Up” at the front ticketing counter. 10% off Star Trek merchandise at EMP Stores.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

• Make It So! crafting where you can learn some basic Klingon, create a cosmic masterpiece, or take home your very own Khan finger puppet
• Take the captain's seat at the Star Trek command chair photo op
• Play a game of Tribble Toss or take part in other Star Trek-inspired gameplay
• Immerse yourself in the history of the franchise with clips from some of your favorite episodes on the mammoth Sky Church screen
• Skip the space grub for enterprising themed food and drink specials at CULTURE KITCHEN by Wolfgang Puck. Food special: Wrap of Khan (fried chicken wrap). Drink specials: James Tea Kirk (vodka, gin, rum, blue curaco, sour mix, sprite), Beam Me Up Scotty (scotch, vanilla, soda), Klingon Blood Wine.

Get a look at this new documentary from the Smithsonian Channel, which explores the lasting influence the original Star Trek series had on the world through history, props and artifacts, and a new generation of engineers and scientists who are making Star Trek’s visionary technology real. {Premiered September 4, 2016}

Trek Talk: Star Trek's Continuing Influence on Science and Innovation
EMP Curator Brooks Peck hosts a panel discussion exploring how Star Trek’s warp drives, medical tricorders, tractor beams and more have directly inspired scientists and engineers behind today's latest advancements in bioengineering, computing, and space exploration. Featured panelists: Dr. Paul Yager (Dept. of Bioengineering, University of Washington), Adam Wuerl (Program Manager, Spaceflight, Inc.), Deborah Harrison (Senior Content Developer, Cortana Editorial Team at Microsoft).
