Time Out says
Seattle Musical Theatre invites Seattle to spend Valentine’s month with SWEET CHARITY, the girl who wants to be loved. This Tony Award-winning musical follows the titular broad as she sings, dances, laughs, and cries her way through the harsh reality of Times Square, searching for The One. Even amongst a colorful array of characters, including her cynical trio of streetwise girlfriends, a phony evangelist, a list of unreliable suitors, the unflappable Charity knows in her heart that there’s gotta be something better than this.
With a witty and energetic book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, this quirky romance includes musical theatre favorites Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, Too Many Tomorrows, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This, I’m a Brass Band, and Baby, Dream Your Dream. Directed and choreographed by Harry Turpin. Music Direction by Michael Nutting.
SWEET CHARITY runs Feb 13-March 1 at Seattle Musical Theatre at Magnuson Park. Tickets ($20-$35) are available at www.seattlemusicaltheatre.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
