Tea Library Pt Iii By Christopher Shaw, With Red Square/红四方 李桂田 says
Opening Dec 1, 5-8pm, ArtXchange Gallery is proud to present Tea Library part III! Sculptor and ceramicist Christopher Shaw (Seattle) creates a transformative site-specific installation exploring tea as a symbolic medium and artistic practice. With collaboration by visual/performance artist Red Square 红四方-李桂田 (New York), Tea Library part III uses a fluid approach to material and form to reflect the contemporary evolution of tea culture.

Previous iterations of ceramicist Christopher Shaw's Tea Library installation have combined images, wood, clay and cloth to create a conceptual archive of aesthetic experiences inspired by tea. Rooted in global tea traditions, Shaw’s Tea Library series explores how tea culture evolves over time, the intricate cross-cultural influences at play and the development of a uniquely Northwest tea aesthetic.

The gallery will also be displaying a selection of elegant, contemporary tea ware by artists including Richard Brandt (Portland), Arun Sharma (Australia), Crimson Lotus Tea (Seattle) and more!
