The Environment live @ NW Folklife, The Vera Project stage
(free, all ages)

The Environment is a big idea to inhabit. It's the place where life happens, or the set of conditions that define it. It's a context, a system, a canvas.

Since 2014, Seattle-based songwriter/producer William Cremin (The Torn ACLs, Roaming Herds of Buffalo) has been sending music up into that lofty space. The result is a heartfelt, hard-hitting album full of electropop textures and R&B pathos. Written in the midst of disintegrating relationships, uncertain prospects, displacement, and false starts, Everything For Life forges that raw anxiety into 10 tracks of defiantly self-assured pop music.

Live, The Environment spreads out to form a five-piece band, pushing waves of synth through programmed beats, backup singers pounding out dance steps in unison. Precision, physicality, and unhinged showmanship combine.
