Through photos, videos and stories, company directors Joanna Sherman and Michael McGuigan will highlight some of their recent projects and adventures in post-war areas and regions in conflict, collaborating with local artists, and creating entertaining performances that address social and environmental issues. Bond Street Theatre has spent much of its 35 year history in global hot spots, using theatre as a way to uplift women and youth, help refugees, promote peace, and give voice to those whose freedom of expression has been squelched. We have ongoing programs in Afghanistan working with youth on community improvement projects and teaching theatre to women in prisons and shelters. "In Myanmar, with our theatrical partners, we have performed in villages across the country, and in Haiti, we work with the women's theatre group, Favelik. Our work is physical, visual and musical so that we can easily cross borders of language and culture. Our combination of skills has taken us to 40 countries around the world, most recently Azerbaijan and Lebanon."
