My World honors Black History Month with a tribute to African American Dancers and Choreographers: This event will start with a showing of the documentary "DANCING IN THE LIGHT" honoring famous Choreographers and dancers. Then we will be honored with performances by Seattle's own famous dancers: Erricka Shebazz and Duane George! Dr. Karen Entrantt, Ph.D will treat us with some of her breathtaking poetry and Spoken Word. We will finish our program with the West African Dance and Drumming by Thione Diop AND Afua Kouyate, Choreographer for Kouyaté Arts and Adefua African Music & Dance Company. Accompanied by her Husband / Griot; Aboubacar Kouyaté of Kankan, Guinea. Dance participation is welcomed and encouraged! Refreshments and wine/beverages included! All for $15!
