Van Alpert: I2i says
Sticks & Stones Gallery is honored to host "Van Alpert: i2i", the second-ever solo-exhibition of LA’s renowned multi-medium artist Van Alpert. "i2i" will run from August 14th to September 9th, 2015. A reception for the artist will be held Friday, August 14th from 7-11pm at Sticks & Stones Gallery at 5402 22nd Ave NW in Ballard.

After a warm welcome to Seattle during his local debut in our most recent group show Gravity Falls during Seattle Art Fair, "i2i" will feature Alpert’s signature mélange of mixed-media works, from canvas to acrylic three-dimensional sculptures.

Whether print, paint or plastic, Alpert’s works draw on the themes of Old Hollywood, pop culture and the Femme Fatale. Inspired by his nearly decade-long career in film production and direction, Alpert gives fresh and witty life to Americana staples. Classic but far from expected, Alpert presents this unifying theme in different mediums, making "i2i" a dynamic yet cohesive achievement.

Alpert first rose to prominence through his work in film and video, making a name for himself as an art director and director on various projects ranging from documentary to experimental. Most recently Alpert has been responsible for the custom shoe design on the set of Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers”, produced film for Beats by Dre and this week premiered his new music video for Post Malone’s “White Iverson”.

Van made his fine art debut last Fall in Miami’s Wynwood Art District to glowing reviews. Alpert masterfully translates his bold, gritty trademark film style to his work, using bold lines, colors and concepts. In particular, Alpert seems to have the auteur’s eye for grabbing a wisp of a zeitgeist and capturing it in the moment, making the viewer feel “in on the joke”, if only for a moment.

Join us at the opening reception on the evening of August 14th from 7-11PM. Van Alpert will be visiting Seattle from Los Angeles and is going to be present at the reception. Beverages provided by our local sponsor Hales Ales.
