Suitable for all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, mainly on the floor. It is not uncommon to see postures held for three to five minutes.

The last Thursday of the month will be Yin, followed by Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is a guided meditation designed to bring the practitioner into such a deeply relaxed state that it is often experienced as “a conscious state of sleep.” During this time you will be guided through various visualization and body scanning techniques. Practitioners have enough time to sink into the deeply nourishing state in which the brain waves slow down, the nervous system unwinds and a subtle euphoria often emerges.
