The title of this exhibition, Mille-Feuille de Camélia, refers to the numerous layers and narratives of events that make up the modern history of Korea and Taiwan. Co-organized by Taiwanese and Korean curators, the show presents 5 Korean and 5 Taiwanese artists who capture unique perspectives in regards to the distinctiveness and universalities between the two countries. Explored under fascinating themes including domestic migration (Kang Hong-goo’s Jongchon-ri: Journey in Disappearing Village), surnames that exist in both countries (Gu Minja’s Hill, Hill and Hills) and public censorship (Musquiqui Chiying’s The Camera (16)), the collaboration may offer insight into how you as an individual relate to these themes and therefore think about your role in society.
