MMCA is the only national art museum in Korea. It first opened in 1969 at the palace of Gyeongbokgung but continues on today at its Seoul, Gwacheon and Deoksugung branches. The Gwacheon branch is where the original museum relocated and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year by holding a retrospective on its architect, Kim Tai-soo. Kim’s work from both Korea and the United States are chronicled along with a project that looks back on the history of the MMCA Gwacheon.
