Gwangwhamun Plaza will be rejoicing with the strumming of Gayageum (12 stringed instrument), drumming of Buk (large drum) and echoes of the most beloved, "unofficial anthem" of Korea, Arirang. The Seoul Gugak Week, in celebration of the Month of Culture, will be a 3 day event filled with music, activities, beautiful hanbok attires and great food. The Gugak Week will be composed of three different festivals: Gugak Madang (traditional music garden), Seoul Hanji celebration (rice paper) and finally, Arirang Festival. Gugak Week will kick off with an opening ceremony by the Arirang Festival at 1pm. Don’t miss the special performances of the traditional tunes transformed into rock, hip-hop and indie (by JeonInKwon, MC Sniper and Sultan of the Disco). On the same day, Hanji celebration (starting at 11am) will put together a rice paper fashion show with trial zones and shops nearby. The next 2 days will be filled with majestic performances of fusion music bands creatively showcasing Korea's traditional sounds, along with contests and awards ceremonies. As for food, you'll be able to dine at the designated section for food trucks!
