About the People's Joy Parade
People’s Joy Parade is a grassroots menagerie of crepe paper float makers, home made costume fashionistas, b-boys/girls, midnight minstrels, Gigante puppeteers, art cars, bike brigades, moving installation artists, Elvis impersonators, cardboard bricoleurs, rainbow dancers, knights of St. Louis, drag queens, beat making marching bands, Mexican wrestlers, robot makers, Virgin of Guadalupe’s, and lost members of the Missouri tribe that seeks recognize the importance of the people who make up a community.

About Cinco De Mayo St. Louis
The Cinco De Mayo Festival on Cherokee Street is one of the largest festivals in the St. Louis area, bringing together over 45,000 attendees to celebrate the rich culture and artistic community on Cherokee Street and surrounding South St. Louis City neighborhoods. Sponsorship of this event is a great opportunity to connect with a diverse audience, particularly Latinos, urban creatives, and young professionals.

This years’ festival will take place on Saturday, May 7th 2016 from 11:00am­ 9:00pm on Cherokee Street, between Nebraska and Jefferson Street. The festival will pack the street with people enjoying authentic food, drinks, music, entertainment, art and merchandise. The People’s Joy Parade presented by Community Arts and Movement Project will begin at its traditional time of 1:11 PM and has become a festival highlight and beloved celebration of community. The festival brings together the flourishing Cherokee Business District, which includes over 200 diverse, independently owned and operated businesses surrounded by a dense and active residential community.
