GlobeMed at Washington University in St. Louis says
GlobeMed is excited to announce that Barbara Pierce Bush, the co-founder of Global Health Corps and daughter of President George W. Bush, will be speaking on campus on November 13th! Bush has dedicated her life to combating health disparities and advocating for equality within and outside the realm of health. Come hear her speak about global health, how you can join in the movement for health equity, and gateways to entrepreneurship and innovation, and get the opportunity to ask questions and meet Bush herself!

Barbara Pierce Bush has traveled through Africa in order to further understand her own place in combating persistent diseases and other pressing health issues, such as malaria and HIV/AIDS. She thus founded Global Health Corps, an organization that places young professionals in fellowships with organizations that promote health equity in East Africa, Southern Africa, and the United States. Through the organization, she harnesses the passion, energy, and skills of our generation to bring change to the regions of the world that need it most.

She will be speaking to us about her own work and about how every single one of us has the power to create a unique impact in the fight for not only health equity, but also the fight for human rights, and how we can begin to initiate change even as young adults. Building from her own experience, she will provide extremely valuable and informed insight on how each one of us can begin our own path in advocacy for social justice and equitable health care.

All students are encouraged to attend Bush’s speech to gain a broader understanding of current issues in global health, explore new venues for entrepreneurship and global experience, and engage in conversations on possible solutions to some of the world’s most involved systematic problems.
