Amina Gautier is the author of three award-winning short story collections: "At-Risk," "Now We Will Be Happy," and "The Loss of All Lost Things." "At-Risk" won the Flannery O’Connor Award, The First Horizon Award, and the Eric Hoffer Legacy Fiction Award. "Now We Will Be Happy" won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction, the Florida Authors and Publishers Association President’s Book Award, a Silver IPPY Award, and was named Finalist for the William Saroyan International Prize and for the International Latino Book Award. "The Loss of All Lost Things" won the Elixir Press Award and the Chicago Public Library’s 21st Century Award. Gautier is a former postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St. Louis and has been the recipient of the Schlafly Micro-Fiction Award, as well as fellowships from Dora Maar, Disquiet International, Hawthornden Castle, MacDowell Colony, the Ragdale Foundation, Sewanee Writer’s Conference, and Vermont Studio Center.
Charlotte Pence’s poetry often merges the personal with the scientific. Her first book of poems, "Many Small Fires," won "Foreword Reviews"’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award (silver medalist) and was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Book Prize. The book explores her father’s chronic homelessness while simultaneously detailing the physiological changes that enabled humans to form cities, communities, and households. A professor of English and creative writing at Eastern Illinois University, she is also the author of two award-winning poetry chapbooks and the editor of "The Poetics of American Song Lyrics." New poems have recently been published in "Epoch," "Harvard Review," and "The Southern Review."
