The Healing Sessions II

On June 28 and 29 at 8pm, Rev. Sekou & the Holy Ghost return to 2720 for The Healing Sessions and the tail end of their Summer Healing Sessions Tour. In the wake of the Orlando massacre and the anniversary of the Mother Emanuel massacre, the Healing Sessions is an acoustic set filled with joy and remembrance. Fresh off a four-month coast to coast tour, Rev. Sekou & the Holy Ghost has been playing to standing room only crowds around the country. On Jan. 31st, 2016, Rev. Sekou & the Holy Ghost released their debut album, “The Revolution Has Come”-- released by St. Louis based record label, FarFetched in collaboration with The Fellowship of Reconciliation and Eloveate Music. "The Revolution Has Come" is the highest grossing and fastest selling album FarFetched has ever released. AFROPUNK celebrates the album’s ”deep bone-marrow-level conviction” that Black Lives Matter. The single, “We Comin'”was named the new anthem for the modern Civil Rights movement by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The title track "The Revolution Has Come" was listed as the protest song of the week by the website Shadow Proof. The sonic landscape of “The Revolution Has Come” captures the toll of southern field hands, grieving mothers’ wails, the vibrancy of contemporary street protest, backwoods juke joints, and shotgun churches—all driven by the Holy Ghost's funk bass line.
