The Trophy Mules combine rock, classic country and folk elements to deliver a distinctive and timeless collection of material that stretches across musical boundaries. The band, which consists of singer-songwriter-guitarist Corey Saathoff, mandolin-guitar-harmonica player Larry Rosenhoffer, bassist Dan Huffman, drummer Dave Clark and pedal steel player Scott Swartz, released its debut 10-song recording "Sorry Motel" in January 2013.

The Riverfront Times in St. Louis has praised the band's music as "exceptionally well-played, pleasant country/Americana." In 2013, the band's song "Slow Southern Rain" was nominated for an RFT Reader's Choice Award for "Best Local Single of the Past 12 Months." The band's song "Marigold Life" was chosen by KDHX FM 88.1 DJ Pat Wolfe as his "Song of the Year" for 2013, and the album "Sorry Motel" was on his list of top 10 albums of 2013.

In 2014, The Trophy Mules were nominated for a Riverfront Times Music Award in the category of "folk-country."
