Don't miss the museum premiere of the theatrical puppet show Work by current CAM exhibiting artist Wyatt Kahn! Commissioned by the celebrated performance art biennial, PERFORMA, Work debuted in New York City this November. In the tongue-in-cheek performance, Kahn’s paintings come to life and argue with each other, rising up against their maker in a comical climax.

Each puppet is a miniature version of one of Kahn’s own modular, post-Minimalist paintings or works in progress. In the performance, co-written by Veronica Gonzalez Peña, audience members are invited into the artist’s Brooklyn studio, where, whenever Kahn leaves the stage, the paintings talk behind his back, critiquing everything from Instagram to their own insecurities and art historical rhetoric. Through the humorous lens of the puppet show, Kahn examines the work of being a contemporary artist, in particular responding to and poking fun at the pressures and absurdities of today’s art world.

Tickets are available at camstl.org/work.

$25 general admission; $20 CAM members; $15 students. A limited number of $50 VIP tickets include priority seating and cocktails with the performers after the show. Email aelmestad@camstl.org for student and member discount codes.
