Follow the smoke to Time Out Market Union Square, where Jase's BBQ is taking over for a limited-time pop-up serving deeply flavorful, slow-cooked classics with roots that stretch far beyond the city.
Founder Jase Franklyn hails from Tobago, where barbecue was more than a meal, it was a ritual. Taught by his mother and shaped by large family gatherings during Christmas and New Year celebrations, Jase developed a style grounded in patience, bold seasoning, and cooking for a crowd. After moving to the U.S. to study Computer Information Systems, he kept the fire going, spending weekends and special occasions behind the grill.
What started as a passion became a pursuit. In 2018, Jase officially launched Jase’s BBQ, quickly earning recognition across New York’s competitive barbecue scene. His jerk pork and signature BBQ pigtails took home Best Food Overall at Bacon and Beer Classic NYC, followed by the Hidden Gem Award at Pig Island NYC, and Best Rib Dinner at Rib King NYC.
Now at Time Out Market Union Square, that same award-winning approach is on full display. Expect brisket sliced to order, jerk spare ribs with heat and depth, and pulled pork that’s tender, rich, and built for a proper plate. Everything is served by the half pound, so you can mix, match, and go all in.
Round it out with classic sides like creamy mac and cheese, golden cornbread, and crisp coleslaw, made to complement every bite. It’s barbecue that lives up to its promise: smoked and seasoned to perfection.
This is a pop-up, so catch it while you can.
