Time Out says

This exhibition at the Tokyo Station Gallery celebrates 150 years since Japan opened its very first railway line. There will be 150 items on display – one for every year that has passed since the first railway route from Tokyo to Yokohama was unveiled.

Through a series of oil paintings, postcards and photographs, trainspotters will be shown the timeline of Japan’s history of locomotives, starting from 1872 through to present day.  Highlights include Utagawa Hiroshige III's famous work ‘Yokohama Kaigan Railway Steam Train’ as well as Kawanabe Kyosai's ‘Hell Paradise Tour’.
