Balthus or Balthasar Klossowski de Rola is well-known as one of the most controversial artists of the 20th century, but few people are aware of the fact that he actually substituted a camera for his paintbrush later in life. Following the Balthus retrospective at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum this spring, this exhibition will show photographs taken by the artist himself – an interesting chance to see a series of colour photographs and polaroids, many of which are shown publicly in Japan for the very first time.
