Time Out says

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of its founding, the Japan Professional Photographers Society is holding an exhibition of photographs taken in Japan between 1985 and 2015. This exhibition is the fourth installment of the society’s History of Japanese Photography series which began with the History of Japanese Photography 1840-1945 exhibition.

Each of the three 10-year increments featured in this exhibition represents a different era. The photographs taken between 1985-1994 symbolise an era in which journalism prospered with the expansion of the economy, whereas the period between 1995 and 2004 revolves around the transition from film cameras to digital cameras. Finally, works taken from 2005 to 2015 demonstrate the dramatic and remarkable evolution of digital cameras and smartphones.
